Just write something

I want to make sure that I write something at least every other day. I remember when I lived in Turkey and in Switzerland as well that as soon as I stopped writing every few days I stopped writing all together. Its as much about discipline as it is about having anything to say.

I played in another pool competition last night but nerves got the best of me and I was beaten by a guy I know I could beat 9 times out of 10. Very frustrating to get beaten not by an opponent but by yourself...

I almost got into a fight with an Indonesian last night. I was driving one of my friends home after the competition when one of the blue busses that don't have bus-stops rather just stop whenever someone waves them down decided to stop immediately in the middle of the road to allow someone on. I had to slam on my breaks and swerve to avoid hitting him. In so doing I nearly came into contact with a motorcycle. He became furious at me and drove right in front of me then slammed on his brakes to force me to stop. I had no idea what was going on when he jumped off his bike and began demanding me to give him money. Obviously having done nothing wrong and there being no contact I wasn't about to give him any money but he was blocking my way so I was stuck there.. I was forced to reverse into oncoming traffic and speed off while he tried to smash my windows.

Sometimes Indonesia can get to you. I have grown to love many things about this place but sometimes it can just be too much. People are massively rude and they just really don't care about anyone else. You would think that the people who have obviously just come from the villages would be the most polite but in fact they are the most rude. I was walking into a store the other day when a short man who had very clearly just arrived from a village outside of any major city slammed past me without any look of apology. That happens so often it amazes me.
