A dark day for football

When you live in a country far from any globally competitive teams it is only natural that people would support teams from other nations. But there is something different when you support a team far from where you live. Your loyalties are a bit askew. When you support your home team you support them with every fibre of your being. You think they will win every year no matter the odds. When you choose to support a team from far away you are doing just that... choosing. Which means your support isn't really all that strong. My point is that in Indonesia the English Premiere league is king, yet the teams supported are only supported as long as they are the absolute best. Their support for teams is about as deep as bowl of soup. Manchester City is huge here because they are the best... for now. Chelsea used to be king and before that it was Man U. Its only natural to support a team that is good, why would you choose to support a team that never wins? But for those of us that support a team win or lose for years on end unwavering it is beyond obnoxious to witness support flutter about with the winds of foreign money being pumped into the EPL.

A new week has started and this will be a good week. We have a holiday on Thursday, sports day on Friday, and off day on Saturday! So it is a three day week. The semester is winding down and exams are drawing close.

Yesterday was mothers day, one more holiday that feels so distant due to the massive amount of miles between me and home. I'm starting to look at flight options and am getting restless with anticipation. Soon, so very soon. Just over a month to go...
