Today is Thursday which means once my classes are finished at 10:45 I have no other classes until Monday. I still have to stay at work, attend meetings, and do my markings but it is hard to stay focused when I feel officially done as it were.
I went to Outback last night with a group of friends and had a great steak even if it was waaay too small.
This morning I finally got to read about the new iphone 5. Well I'll be honest I was massively sceptical. For starters during the Steve Jobs era there was a profound level of secrecy. You never knew quite what was going to be released whereas this iphone was pretty well known weeks in advance. My other major qualm was in the lack of innovation or should I say separation from the pack. The iphone and then the iphone 4 were such massive leaps in the world of phones that it seems hard to grasp a new version that is anything less than revolutionary. However, I read an article this morning that may have changed my mind a bit. It explained that what apple has done with this new iphone is not come out with some massive headline seeking product such as the recently released plug-less charging phone from Nokia and instead has focused on perfecting the phone itself. Things like the plug-less charge or 3d tv's don't really work in the real world. Who wants to wear a pair of glasses every time they turn on the tv? The iphone 5 is a huge leap in battery life in comparison to phone size as well as processing speed. It is also effortless to use and that is the key issue here. My 90+ year old grandfathers can use an ipad. They are just that easy to use. This new iphone is a step up in user friendliness which is really saying something. It didn't take me that long to figure out how to use a blackberry phone but I was constantly faced with issues that simply could have been less complicated. Apple products are just simple and ridiculously easy to use. Fact. The iphone 5 is not really for me. I'm sure its great but I'm all set with my current iphone however I do see how it is actually a step forward not just a step sideways.
