Continuation

Another week begins and I think I have become immune to the bizarre normalities of this country. I was driving to work this morning and had a motorcycle bang into the side of my car. There are very few lanes in Indonesia and even where there are they are rarely utilised. So what happens is cars and motorcycles drift around the road as they see fit. For this to still be functional requires everyone to be vigilant and to be constantly checking their mirrors. That of course is not the case and the result is what happened to me this morning or often times something much worse. He didn't crash, I didn't get any scratches, and all that was left to do was for both of us to hurl insults at each other. Another day in Indonesia. Another moment that would seem absolutely absurd in other parts of the world and yet almost trivial here.
