Crazy nights

So I have been avoiding "the other side of Jakarta" since I've been here. In so much as I know there is a seedy darker side to the city and I've yet to find a reason to experience it. My Australian friends on the other hand suggested we at least see what the area is like. I have to admit part of me was curious to at least see what it is like so I went out with my friends being led by a New Zealander to block M the notorious area. The plan was to grab a beer, some food, play some pool, and call it an early night.

 So we go out and as I expected a few girls came up to us asking for us to buy them drinks with the insinuation of much more, we kindly declined. But within an hour or so the place began to fill up more and more with girls and white men looking for girls. It was one of the strangest things I've ever seen. The typical white man over here is about 40-50, bald, and pot bellied. They almost always have a girlfriend who is around 25 years old and more often than not, absolutely beautiful. Well this is where they all meet up. As the night progressed I saw an Australian man get into an argument with a girl over the score of a game of pool. He then proceeded to wipe the chalkboard eraser across her face and was moments away from pushing her to the ground. Growing up in the South as I have I stepped in and forced the man to walk away in the nicest way possible yet still using some quite harsh words. It didn't hurt that he was stumbly drunk and I stood a good foot over him. So, from that point on the girl I protected felt she was in my debt and wanted to repay the debt by lets just say non monetary means. She began fighting other girls off from me as other girls began to follow my every move. I eventually had to escape more or less. I have never seen anything like it before, these girls get treated like dirt and yet its just about the only chance they have to make any money and get fed. Its horrible to witness thats for sure. Also, it has made me hate just about all white men over here. They are for the most part filthy disgusting pieces of trash.
