2sday rise and shine

Today is a very exciting day for me. I am finally getting my motorcycle! A friend of mine Dad has helped me find a good price on a solid bike. I am so ready to be in control of my transportation again. It is something that I know is very American. I have been talking with Fina a lot about that lately, the difference between Asian collectivity and Western independence. I want to be in control of as much as possible and be alone when I can. Asians want someone else to drive them, clean for them, carry their things, do anything and everything for them, and they never want to be alone in any form. The ways that these two extremes manifest themselves is fascinating. We were comparing our malls the other day and noticed how loud malls are here. The music they play is painfully lound, the same goes for restaurants etc. Westerners and Americans especially are loud in general but we don't want to be invaded or have our precious space invaded so we would never have music played extremely loud at a restaurant. Also, elevators, so something has to be said for the mass number of people living in this city but seriously, they cram about 75 more people than westerners ever would on an elevator. Personal space is definitely western.

So tomorrow at 5am I am heading out on a 4 hour road trip to go white water rafting! I am really curious to see what it will be like. It could easily be very calm water or it could be serious rapids, who knows!
