Its the calm before the storm as it were. I'm still doing review with some of my students but mostly I am done. However starting next week I will be giving exams and soon afterwards will be grading like there is no tomorrow...
I went to Chilli's last night, which although not a real Mexican restaurant as such still brightens up my day as a Texan. There is something special about your own food; no matter how much you like pizza, hamburgers, or nasi goreng you just can't beat the food that your body craves more than anything. I can't imagine what travel must have been like 100 years ago when though things would have been more authentic and thusly more interesting there would have been no comforts of home... I can still get coca cola or my brand of toothpaste over here not to mention the fact that I can see my friends and family on skype..
The first time I ever moved over seas to Turkey we were able to communicate back home by walking 30 odd minutes from our home to our office to hook up our computers to a early version of an internet phone which had an enormous lag. But we thought it was incredible and it really was at the time. Now I have facebook and skype... crazy.
....Is it holiday yet?
