Mosques

Fridays are misleading for me because I still work on Saturday so Friday is just another day really. Mentally its hard to disassociate Friday from the weekend. Point is, its Friday morning and I wish that it were Saturday instead.

One of the problems I've had since moving back into my old kost is that I am very near to about 7-8 mosques. For most of the day that is no problem but at 4am until 5am they are not the best neighbours. The worst of it is that they sometimes get into volume fights with each other effectively turning up their speakers until my room practically shakes! So I've had to start using a sound machine again. I still wake up at 4 but I can usually fall back asleep. Oh how I remember when I first got here. Many many nights I would lay in bed praying to fall back asleep... I remember in Turkey I never had this problem even though we lived very close to a Mosque. It was only one mosque and the call to prayer was hypnotically beautiful but still. The calls to prayer here are so much more intrusive and harsh. They blast them from their speakers and sometimes chant phrases repeatedly. I used to enjoy sitting on my rooftop in Yalova listening to the echos of the multiple mosques blanket the valley below. I doubt I will have the same feelings of nostalgia for the Mosques here.
