Frustrations of an expat

I have been speaking more and more regularly about frustrations of living over here. Sometimes my frustrations come from the Government of Indonesia, sometimes from the people themselves, and sometimes from my work. Yesterday was difficult because of those at my work. I gave a short presentation on the application of Classical Education in every aspect of Education including evaluation ie quizzes and tests. Yet no matter what was said one teacher alone stood by his methods of quizzing which includes pages of single word answers given every 4 weeks...

His results are terrible and students are on the verge of dropping out due to his methods and yet he blames the teachers before him for not preparing the students for his class. It is so frustrating to see someone so blind to their own faults. As a teacher we must constantly evaluate our students and thusly must evaluate ourselves. When we as teachers or to a lesser extent citizens stop evaluating ourselves we are doomed to failure.

It is equally frustrating to have in so many words have someone tell you that their experience trumps yours because they are older than you and therefor must be smarter and better than you no matter if the record shows otherwise.

Asia is so focused on age superiority! I don't care how old or how young you are your results should be the only thing that matters...

Oh well thats enough of a rant for today
